LiveProject Resource Management

An important role of LiveProject's is to manage a resource's (user) access to various documents, folder and projects. Not only can some information be sensitive, but it is also important that as your team changes, you are able to assign relevant access to resources.

Resource Management in LiveProject starts out with a root-user; the person who created the account. This root-user has access to everything and must invite more users to join. As they do, the root-user can assign rights to individuals to invite others, edit their own information, reset passwords, etc.

Managers of folders can grant access rights to others through a simple access-right user interface. By default, all rights are inherited from parent folders, making setup extremely easy.

Managers can also assign a specific person as a manager of an individual file. When this is a project file, this person will become responsible for approving project suggestions from team members. Re-assigning managers is a useful feature when people change roles or while a manager is on vacation.

Resources are identified uniquely by their e-mail address, which is an easy way to prevent duplicate accounts. To invite a new user, LiveProject will send them an e-mail with installation information, as well as a temporary password. Should they forget their password, they can either answer a secret question or the manager can reset the password for them. New passwords are always sent to their e-mail address, minimizing the risk of fraud and enhancing security.
