Editing Tasks
(Making Project Suggestions)
In order for team members to make suggestions to your project plans (mpp files), they must be
able to edit project tasks. Suggestions are only possible on projects that are hosted
on a LiveProject Server.
LiveProject supports editing nearly every field supported by Microsoft Project,
including custom fields. Users can also add new tasks and move them to the right
location in the project plan, as well as suggest the deletion of existing tasks.
The task edit dialog resembles the Microsoft Project dialog, in order to provide
instant familiarity for experienced users.
A special feature of LiveProject is to append "comments" to any suggestion. These
comments are shown to the manager when he or she is managing the project suggestions.
LiveProject also uses the suggestions and comments to build a "task history" for
every task in a project.
As long as suggestions are made inside LiveProject, they will be tracked and can
later be viewed and even
exported to various other formats.
Suggested changes are visible "live" to everyone viewing the project. This enables
the team to see how everyone is progressing and serves several purposes:
- It provides a real-time view of project updates.
- It holds team members accountable as their changes are now visible for everyone
to see.
- It enables team members to make informed decisions based on the latest available
information.
- Managers and top-management can monitor project progress day-to-day and project
managers no longer have to create E-mail reports on progress.
Enabling team members to make suggestions directly "in" the project, there is no
longer any mistakes made due to cut-and-paste errors, or manual communication.
