Project alarms can be used to alert yourself to various conditions that may occur when mpp project file changes. For example, you could set up an alarm to be informed when a new task has been created and assigned to you. For each alarm you can configure various alerts such as sounds, notes and highlights in the task table. To manage alarms choose the Edit Alarms option from the Project viewer context menu or from the Project menu at the top. (Note: if using the Project menu at the top, no file specific settings are available such as resources or specific tasks.)
Creates a new alarm and takes you to the Project alarm setup window.
Edits an existing alarm and takes you to the Project alarm setup window.
Copies an existing alarm and takes you to the Project alarm setup window.
Deletes a alarm permanently.
Set a alarm as default. This will move the alarm to the top of the Project alarms management list.
Exits the window.
Name of the alarm that will be shown in the alarm lists.
Use these options to limit the tasks to which this alarm will be applied to.
If checked, this alarm will not be limited to specific tasks. If not checked, then select specific tasks from the list of tasks to apply this alarm to.
If checked, this alarm will be applied to new tasks.
Only apply alarm to tasks assigned to the selected resources or select Any resource to not limit the tasks by assignment.
Select these to apply this alarm to the selected tasks parent task, child tasks, predecessors, successors etc.
Add conditions which must be true in order for the alarm to be applied. For example, select % Complete = 100 to only apply the alarm to tasks that have % equal to 100. You can select as many conditions as you want.
Add conditions on which to trigger the alarm. In order for a condition to be evaluated, the field in question must have changed. For example, select % Complete = 100 to have the alarm be triggered when the % Complete changes to 100%.
Here you can configure the various alerts for this alarm.
Select this option to have the affected cells or the affected row highlighted with the selected color in a similar fashion as pending and completed suggestions are shown.
Select a system sound or a wave file to be played when the alarm is triggered.
Show a note on top of the system tray when the alarm is triggered. The note will fade in and out on its own.
Show a note on top of the system tray when the alarm is triggered. The note will be shown until it is clicked on by the user.
