These fields correspond to the fields in an Email, and will be filled in accordingly

<Syntax>

The way the template is filled in, is by text replacement. Fields are included in <>, and the actual value is generated when the e-mail is built from a the project file at a later time. For instance, <P:Title> is a field from a Project, and it is replaced with the title you originally entered in your Microsoft Project ® file.

Some fields have only one value in the mpp Project file. For instance there is only one project title in each file.

Other fields have multiple values, such as the name of a task. Since a project file has multiple tasks, <T:Task Name> could be the name of any of those. In this case LiveProject will replace <T:Task Name> with the list of all the task names, separated by a ";".

Example:

Dear <R:Resource Name>, your task(s) - <T:Task Name> - are late, please give me a status update.

- <P:Manager>

The user now select two tasks from a project:

TaskID Task Names Resource Names Durations
1 Analysis Andy 5 days?
2 Design George 19 days

This table is used to generate the output from the template, which looks like this:

Dear Andy;George, your task(s) - Analysis;Design - are late, please give me a status update.

- Igor Krazynski

This is very useful, but a bit limiting, as it does not allow resource names to be directly associated with tasks. Using this syntax, you can only generate lists of fields.

To enable generating blocks of text with better association between fields, we have introduced LiveProject groups. A group is a block of text which is replaced for each row in the data. It is indicated by the <LPGROUP> keyword, and terminated by the </LPGROUP> keyword.

Example:

<LPGROUP>Hello <T:Resource Names>.

Your task <T:ID>:<T:Task Name> is running late, please send me a status update!

</LPGROUP>

- <P:Manager>

The user now select two tasks from a project:

TaskID Task Names Resource Names Durations
1 Analysis Andy 5 days?
2 Design George 19 days

This table is used to generate the output from the template, which looks like this:

Hello Andy.

Your task 1:Analysis is running late, please send me a status update!

Hello George.

Your task 2:Design is running late, please send me a status update!

- Igor Krazynski

As shown, the entire group was repeated for each row the user selected. This allows for some very detailed report generating, as seen in the picture at the top.

Important Note: Some reports with thousands of tasks can a while to generate, be patient. Also, if you see surprising output, make sure that each <LPGROUP> is terminated correctly with </LPGROUP> keywords. Also, do not embed one <LPGROUP> inside another.
