Template fields

Supported fields for E-mail, Excel, and PowerPoint exporting

When creating an e-mail, excel or powerpoint template, LiveProject supports almost every column used in Microsoft Project.

Field Naming

Fields are entered between <> characters, and consists of a Type and a Name. For example <R:Resource Name>.

The Types are:

  • R for Resource fields, for example <R:Email Address>
  • T for Task fields, for example <T:Task Name>
  • P for Project fields, for example <P:Manager>

The Names match the column names from Microsoft Project (See list below).

Grouping

When creating a e-mail, excel or powerpoint template, you can create what we call a LiveProject Group. These groups are indicated with the <LPGROUP> start tag, and </LPGROUP> end tag.

When for instance an e-mail is generated, groups are repeated for each task, thus making it possible to create lists of tasks.

Fields that are not inside a group will contain ALL the values for that field. In the example below, note that <R:Resource Name> is used outside the LPGROUP, and thus contains all the resource names for the selected tasks.

Here is the template for the Short Tasklist:

Dear <R:Resource Name>.

Please review your tasks on project "<P:Title>" listed below.

<LPGROUP>Task:<T:Unique ID> : Responsible: <T:Resource Names>

This code will generate a mail like this, given 3 tasks are selected:

Dear Deborah Finurli;Anna Langly;Bert Finklestein;George Swift.

Note: For MS Project custom fields, use the original field name. If for instance you rename "Text1" to "Machinery", you still need to use <T:Text1> in the template.
